Extremely rare German WW2 U-boat Submarine Kill Flag U-201 8190 tons German WWII U-boat U-201 Kill Flag, 8190 tons. The flag is measures 9” tall (plus the ties) by 12” wide. Hand painted on black cotton. Machine sewn. Single sided. This is a fantastic piece of naval history. Low excellent condition. I founded 12 U-boat flags in box with WW2 Kriegsmarine stuff on estate sale. Other items you can see on other listings. The flag passed very important test - it does not glow under the black lamp(all fabrics after 1945 glow under the black light). U-201 have had three different variant of emblems - please look at the last picture. U-BOAT: U-201 - Type VIIC. Commissioned: Jan 25, 1941. Fate: Sunk Date: Feb 17, 1943. The Snowman - U-201: This boat became famous while under the command of Kptlt. Adalbert Schnee. His last name, Schnee, means "snow" in German and thus the snowman was a natural emblem for the boat. When commander Schnee received his Knights Cross in August 1941, the Snowman of course got one as well as seen here on the left. U-201 also displayed the crest of the German town of Remscheid. Estimate price for this item is $1400 - $1500.
